A Decreased Risk of Heart Disease
Breakfast isn’t just about nutrients. Eating breakfast has been linked to a lower risk of some chronic diseases. A recent study carried out at Harvard among adult men found that those who regularly ate breakfast also tended to have less heart disease. The researchers aren’t quite sure why this might be. One idea they have is that eating at night, which is more common in people who skip breakfast, may be part of the reason since late night snacking can mess with the hormonal rhythms in ways that lead to diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. Those diseases can then lead to heart disease.
