Step 1: Drink Less Diet Soda
The simplest way to reduce the effects of diet soda and weight gain is to drink less of it. Gradually reducing your consumption will ease withdrawal symptoms and help you stick to the plan. If you normally drink five cans of diet soda a day, start drinking four cans tomorrow. On the following day, drink only three cans, and then on the third day, limit yourself to two. Finally on the fourth day, stick to only one can of diet soda for the entire day. Because you’re drinking fewer cans, you’ll want to fill the void with replacement drinks, so try swapping one of your cans with an alternative beverage like sparkling water with lime or a carbonated black cherry seltzer.
