Ancient Ayurvedic tradition teaches that each person contains a unique mixture of three elements, or doshas. The mix of these doshas is thought in Ayurveda to influence personality, and their balance is said by some to influence health. Find out which Ayurvedic diet might be right for your body type.

Kapha Dosha Food Rule

Those believed to have the kapha dosha can try eating more lean protein and carbs during the winter. Mung beans are a good source of protein and may help with gas. Pumpkin and sunflower seeds are high in magnesium, and a small handful can be added to meals once or twice a day. Brussels sprouts have vitamins K and C and fiber, and eaters should aim for five ounces a few times a week. The vitamin C can help boost immunity and the fiber is good for digestion. Grapefruit with the white pith still on it can also be eaten because it’s high in pectin, which may help lower cholesterol in some cases.
