Ancient Ayurvedic tradition teaches that each person contains a unique mixture of three elements, or doshas. The mix of these doshas is thought in Ayurveda to influence personality, and their balance is said by some to influence health. Find out which Ayurvedic diet might be right for your body type.

The Vata Dosha Food Rule

Those said to have the vata dosha should focus on the winter as a time to eat more protein and fats. Animal protein and nuts are good sources of protein. Nuts, olive oil and avocado are all healthy sources of fat that can be eaten. Olive oil can be added to any dish. and you should aim for two to three avocado dishes a week. Ghee, a refined butter product used in India, may help with constipation. One to three teaspoons can be used to cook vegetables. All food should be eaten warm.
