A staple in cuisines around the world, rice is widely available and known for its variety. From quick-cooking microwaveable rice pouches to the rice with the least amount of arsenic, get the quick facts behind this popular whole grain.
Some microwave rice pouches are loaded with added salt and can contain up to 500 mg of sodium per cup. Salt can act as a flavoring and preservative for rice that is already partially cooked. Look for rice pouches with no more than 15 mg of sodium per cup or buy uncooked rice that contains no natural sodium.
