The At-Home Test to Find Out Your Foot Type

By Toni Gasparis

Do your feet hurt after wearing your sneakers? It could be because you are wearing the wrong shoes for your feet. The type of foot you have--flat, normal, or high arch--determines the type of sneakers you should buy. Take this quick and easy at-home test to figure out your foot shape so you can tell the sales associate next time you are buying running shoes.

The Test

Rub a teaspoon of olive oil onto the bottom of your foot. Then, step on a brown paper bag with your oiled foot. When you lift up your foot there will be an olive oil imprint of your foot on the bag. Use this print to compare with the following pictures to determine your foot type.
