Know Your Waist Circumference
Many weight loss programs focus on BMI as a measure of healthy weight, but waist circumference has been recognized as being just as important. Where your weight is distributed affects how it influences your health. Fat that sits around your waist is more likely to predispose you to health problems. Men should have a waist circumference of less than 37 inches. Women should be below 32 inches. To figure this out, get a measuring tape and wrap it around your bare abdomen just above your hip bone and parallel to the floor.
