Get a Little Nutty with Turkey

Basting with butter isn’t the only way to get a juicy turkey with crisp skin. Before roasting, rub your bird with peanut oil instead; it imparts a nutty, toasty flavor. Even better? Peanut oil contains heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E (an antioxidant) and phytosterols, which may help heart health by reducing levels of bad cholesterol in the blood.

When preparing your turkey, use peanut oil to cover the bird both over and under the skin. As it roasts, the turkey will create it’s own juices, which you can use to baste the bird and keep it moist.

They both can, however, end up fueling poor nutritional choices and obesity.

Well, if you are overweight, obese or have diabetes you may develop leptin resistance and your "I am full" hormone, leptin, can't do its job. The hormone's signal to your hypothalamus is dampened, and you keep eating.
