Avoid Alcohol and Spicy Foods
Both alcohol and spicy foods raise your internal temperature which can cause your hot flashes to start or worsen. Associate Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, Dr. Lauren Streicher advises avoiding both of these things – especially red wine. Dr. Streicher also cautions that you should really watch your alcohol intake at night as that can both dehydrate you and elevate your body temperature before bed which will probably make it easy to fall asleep but will increase the chance of night sweats and restless sleep.
