Joel Fuhrman, MD is a board-certified family physician, New York Times best-selling author, and nutritional researcher who specializes in preventing and reversing disease through nutritional and natural methods.

As one of the nation’s leading experts on nutrition and natural healing, Dr. Fuhrman has appeared on hundreds of radio and television shows including:  The Dr. Oz Show, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and Live With Kelly. Dr. Fuhrman’s PBS television shows 3 Steps to Incredible Health, which was launched in June 2011, and Dr. Fuhrman’s Immunity Solution, his latest which began airing in August 2012, brings nutritional science to homes all across America.

Dr. Fuhrman’s  #1 New York Times best-selling book Eat to Live published in 2003 (Little Brown) has  sold over 1,000,000 copies and has been published in multiple foreign language editions. In October 2012, Dr. Fuhrman’s most recent book Super Immunity (HarperOne) also became a New York Times best seller. 

Dr. Fuhrman is actively involved in the latest scientific research in human nutrition. His discoveries on food addiction and human hunger were published in the scientific journal Nutrition Journal in November 2010. The article is entitled “The Changing Perception of Hunger on a High Nutrient Density Diet,” and is a breakthrough in the study of food addictions, hunger, and resolving overeating behavior.

Dr. Fuhrman is the Research Director of the Nutritional Research Foundation, a member of the Whole Foods Market Scientific Advisory Board, as well as a member of The Dr. Oz Show Medical Advisory Board.

Dr. Fuhrman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (1988). As a former world class figure skater, Dr. Fuhrman placed second in the United States National Pairs Championships in 1973. Dr. Fuhrman has been involved professionally with sports medical committees, advised professional and Olympic athletes, and lectures to athletic trainers and world-class athletes for maximizing performance and preventing injury.
