Statement from the Clark County Sheriff's Office

A deputy sheriff from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a call on November 18, 2017 reporting concerns over the welfare of the Hart family children. The deputy determined that the incident being reported was third-hand information and had not been witnessed by the caller. The deputy then contacted the witnessing party and determined that the incident had occurred several months prior.

The deputy ultimately decided, based on the totality of circumstances, that there was insufficient information to warrant further investigation.

The sheriff’s office is currently reviewing our response to all calls for service at the Hart family residence.

Additionally, the sheriff’s office Major Crimes Unit is continuing to assist the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol in the ongoing criminal investigation.
