Total Choice Chia Meatballs

Enjoy this Italian-inspired classic with a healthy twist. These meatballs are full of flavor and contain less fat, calories and carbohyrates than the traditional dish. - 1 cup nonalcoholic red wine, grape juice, or red wine
- 2 tbsp fresh garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp chia seed
- 1 tbsp fennel seed
- 1/4 tsp dried basil
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepepr
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 egg whites
- 3/4 cup ground whole-wheat bread crumbs
- 2 lbs 99% lean ground turkey breast
In a large bowl, combine liquid, garlic and chia seed. Set aside and allow chia seed to swell for 15 minutes.
Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
Spoon and roll into 1-oz. balls and place on nonstick baking sheet or parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes.
Remove and serve or allow to cool and refrigerate.
