peanut butter balls

As one of Genius Foods author Max Lugavere's favorite superfoods, cacao can be beneficial to your brain health, thanks to its polyphenols. The seeds make dark chocolate healthier than its sugar-loaded milk chocolate counterpart, and they simulate antioxidants, which can help brain inflammation. Combined with walnuts and dates, these quick bites will satisfy your sweet tooth while promoting your physical and mental health.

  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup medjool dates
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao

1. Place the walnuts in a food processor or a powerful blender (food processors work better) and blend until they have a crumbly texture.

2. Add the dates and the cacao and blend again.

3. Make balls with your hands, and they're ready to serve.

4. You can store the bites in a sealed container at room temperature, although I prefer to keep them in the fridge, especially in the summer.
