Spicy Turkey Chili

In addition to the spicy kick you'll get from the hot peppers in the chili, the capsaicin in the peppers boosts metabolism so your body can produce extra heat and burn more calories.

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 lb lean ground turkey breast
  • 2 15-oz cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 28-oz can San Marzano tomatoes, crushed and diced
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 bell peppers, diced
  • 1 canned chipotle pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp chopped oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 2 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup strong coffee
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley

1. In a large pan,  heat the oil and cook the onions for 5 minutes or until they start to soften.

2. Stir in the turkey and cook until no longer pink.

3. Add the rest of the ingredients (except the parsley), stir well and simmer on medium-low heat for about 1 hour.

4. Sprinkle with parsley before serving. Serves 4.
