Have a heart and take good care of your ticker. Follow these heart-healthy steps to live better and longer.

Sleep to Heart Health

You know that lack of sleep causes fatigue, but even worse, it makes you more prone to both heart attack and stroke. Sleep deprivation also contributes to high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity. Getting less than 6 hours a night puts you at risk, so aim for the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep a night. To help get your Zzz’s, exercise 20-30 minutes daily, avoid big meals before bed, and keep your room dark and cool, about 65 degrees.
