Turmeric is an ancient spice commonly used in Indian cuisine. Aside from simply giving a dish some extra flavor, turmeric might also have medicinal and healing properties. Curcumin, the active chemical in turmeric, gives the spice its bright yellow color. It’s also thought to potentially help reduce stress levels, possibly lower cholesterol and may even aid with the aches of osteoarthritis. Find out what this amazing spice can do.
Affects Your Immune System
In lab and animal studies, curcumin has been found to change a variety of aspects of the way immune cells function and signal each other. Researchers think this may indicate that turmeric could be helpful to the immune system, but it's unclear whether this is true in humans and how much would need to be taken.
