Look for the Right License

The first step in your search for the best doctor that can work with you and address your concerns is to check that your doctor is licensed. This may seem obvious but it is an important step that should not be overlooked. Physicians are required to obtain a state medical license in order to diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, and operate on patients. A medical license indicates that a physician has completed requisite education and training and passed a licensing examination. Physicians may hold multiple licenses; for example, if a doctor practices medicine in more than one state, he or she needs to hold an active license in each state.
